From “The Chatterbox” Newsletter:

May 2011 – Students in RHA Howell‘s Anson Children’s Center’s Preschool 1 and Preschool 2 classes sported mouse ears, whiskers, and tails as they celebrated “The Week of the

At the parade!

Young Child” during a Wadesboro, NC, parade sponsored by the Anson County Partnership for Children. “If You Take a Mouse to School” was the theme of the event.

And after the parade, the Preschool 2 children enjoyed lunch and a production of “If You Take a Mouse to School.” Preschool 1 returned to school and read another mouse book, “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie”.

The Preschool 1 is learning about plants and animals and how things grow this spring. They have planted grass seeds and watch as the sprouts emerge. Soon they will be planting beans and flowers as well.

Making the Butterfly Bush

In Anson’s Toddler 1 class, the children have been learning about shapes and colors and enjoying a spring flower theme. They made handprint-flower cards to give to their Moms for Mother’s Day and they designed a Butterfly Bush using different colors of painted shredded paper: red, yellow, and purple for the flowers and green for the leaves. Then they added colorful butterflies.

The Anson Children’s Center held its annual “Spring Fling” on Friday, May 6.  Many families joined in the fun and activities. Susan Armstrong gave a presentation for the families on early literacy, and the Anson County Partnership for Children donated

books that were given to each family in attendance. Other “Spring Fling” activities included an inflatable bouncer and slide for the children to enjoy, decorating and racing cars, face painting, games, and a spaghetti lunch.

Recently, Preschool 2 had the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics Event at Anson High School.  The results and pictures will be posted in the June edition of “Chatterbox.”

Save the Date: The Anson Children’s Center will honor its graduates, who are heading off to Kindergarten, on June 10.
